In our series “Berlin Guide“ we share our favorite snack bars, restaurants or cafés with you. We reveal where to get the best vegan donuts in town, which Vietnamese tapas restaurant you should visit and where you’ll catch us eating vegan pizza. Here are all our Berlin recommendations.

Maison Han opened in 2016 and we came across this place via funky fresh Instagram pics from their opening party. Right, this is so Berlin! But then we noticed those vegan Banh Cuon (stuffed rice crêpes) in some pictures, so we got really excited about it and had to try it. Right, this is so vegan people! Since then, we visited Maison Han several times and you should go there too!

  • Who should eat with you here?
  • We were here several times – amongst others with summer roll expert Ilse. So you can do probably do everything casual here, whether it’s breakfast date or breakfast with some friends. If you are planning to go there with more people on the weekend, better reserve a table – just to be on the safe side.

  • You should definitely try…

  • Look at this article and try to find a picture of their vegan banh mi sandwich… see? There’s no picture here. And that’s because we can’t resist this combination of crispy break, fresh herbs and carrot and warm baked tofu. So we ate this banh mi sandwich before ANYONE could snap a picture… well. But we improved and tried our best, so now you can see this picture of the vegan stuffed rice crepe which is real good, too! Try their tapioca pudding with banana, this one is special! You could compare it with rice pudding but then … Julia hates rice pudding, but liked this tapioca one, so believe us when we say it’s different from anything you tried before.

  • The best thing about this restaurant …

  • Maison Han is this sort of typical cozy café with lots of light, wood and bricks. Some people may be already yawing but we still like places like this. There even are some strange spots where you find a desk and a printer which is fantastic! We could also do a little bit of copyshop here! But back to being serious… we are not the biggest coffee experts but if we were, we could buy great stuff here. From coffee beens to supplies and of course Vietnamese coffee which is not vegan, unfortunately.

  • Be prepared for…

  • … German butter, when ordering their Vietnamese breakfast pans. Yes, neither butter nor their breakfast pans are vegan and therefor this is non of our business, BUT still, this does not fit somehow. So we just wanted to tell you so you’re prepared.

  • If this restaurant would be an animal…

  • … it would be a plumplori, since Maison Han is a great place to shift down a gear.
